Dear Neighbor,
It's hard to believe summer is coming to a close and that school has already begun! Please remember to return your summer reading forms as soon as possible! I am looking forward to presenting certificates to every child who participated in the challenge!
Also, join me and Councilman Donovan Richards this Sunday for our First Annual Health Fair at the Wavecrest & Bayswater Neighborhood Senior Center from 11am to 3pm at 27-16 Healy Avenue in Bayswater. There will be free health screenings, giveaways and other valuable information at the health fair.

Funding For Our Seniors
|
In an effort to ensure our seniors have the services they need and deserve, I have allocated $15,000 in state funding to the Howard Beach and Rockaway Park Senior Centers. These centers act as a vital resource and provide essential community programs that can help our seniors stay active, healthy and independent. Each center will receive $7,500 to support daily operations, programing and essential services. |
Cleaning Up the Neighborhood
|
Graffiti vandalism is a gateway crime that not only affects our quality of life, but also could lead to more serious offenses. I have strongly urged toy stores to clear their shelves of "KIDFFITI", a graffiti stencil toy that encourages children to graffiti and glorifies vandalism. We should be educating our children to keep our community clean, not providing them the tools to potentially deface it. The Department of Consumer Affairs has committed to work with my office and any relevant retailers to discuss the effects of the sale of graffiti products and possible solutions to address their availability.

Labor Day Fun!
|
Over Labor Day weekend, my family and I joined some friendly competition and entered our homemade "steamroller" float into the local parades. My float, which included a sign declaring, "When DOT won't pave...Goldfeder will," won second place in the "Most Original" category in Monday's Broad Channel Mardi Gras Parade and took home the trophy for first place overall inSunday's Hamilton Beach Baby Parade!!
