BC Boy Scouts Camp Out
Boy Scout Troop 282 from Broad Channel ventured up to Narrowsburg, New York for their second annual camping trip at Ten Mile River on Camp Aquehonga.
During their week-long trip, the boys achieved many accomplishments. As a troop, the six boys earned a total of 26 merit badges and there were four rank advancements.

Ryan Panetta, the senior scout, earned merit badges in Swimming, Lifesaving, Environmental Science, Archaeology, Leatherwork, Basketry, and Communications. Shane Denni earned merit badges in Archeology and Archery and moved up two ranks to become a First Class Scout.
Andre Fischer, a first year scout, earned merit badges in Reptile and Amphibian Study, Wood Carving, Nature, Archaeology, and Sports. William Fischer earned merit badges in Reptile and Amphibian Study, Camping, Nature, Archaeology, Sports, and Communications. Alex Lubianka earned merit badges in Archaeology, Personal Fitness, Athletics, and Rifle Shooting; he also moved up in rank to become a Second Class Scout.
Anthony Ciappetta earned merit badges in Camping and Archeology and he moved up in rank to become a Second Class Scout.
Troop co-founder and Committee Chairman, Fred Ciappetta and Scout Master Jon-Paul Rasinya noted they are very proud of the boy’s accomplishments over the week away.
Ciappetta offered a “special thank you to Barry Fischer for helping out with cooking and the many tasks of making this a special week.”
“Our weekly Monday night meetings will resume on Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m., at the Shad Creek Association in Broad Channel. We also have open registration every Monday night, so come by, sit in on a meeting and sign up.”
According to organizers, the Broad Channel Boy Scout Troop has many fun and exciting trips planned for the coming year.
