LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2014
As the summer of 2014 comes to and end it is once again time to temporarily change the street signs along Cross Bay Boulevard to read "Bourbon Street" (or for all you Channel Cajuns out there, "Rue des Bourbon") as, for just one weekend, the Broad Channel transforms itself into the French Quarter to "Let the good times roll" - celebrating our Mardi Gras Labor Day weekend in support of the men and women of our Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department!
"Countdown" - Friday August 29th
Friday evening at the BCAC Field complete
with a kickball tournament with DJ Miltey ($30 pp) including beer and hot dogs.
Sign up at 7 pm.
"Family Day" - Saturday August 30th
Games, rides, face painting and all sorts of activities for the little ones plus cotton candy food and drinks for all! Starts at 12 noon.
"Build Your Float and Bar Visitation Day" - Sunday August 31st
Spend the day with your family and friends getting your float ship shape for Monday's
parade.
Join Saturday evening's "pub crawl" to support the sponsors of this year's Summer of 2014 Mardi Gras at:
Grassy Point - 8:00 pm
and
Ruffle Bar at 10:00 pm
Broad Channel Mardi Gras Labor Day Parade 2014 - Monday September 1st
This year, due to popular demand, the BCVFD has decided to extend the parade route!
Don't forget to register your float at the BCVFD between 10 am and 12 noon Monday morning and then have your float inspected at West 10th Road at 12:30 pm prior to Monday's parade line-up.
The parade will now start at West 10th Road at 1:00 pm, traveling south and turning at 20th Road and then marching north neanding at the BCAC Field with closing ceremonies, trophy awards and the $10,000 raffle drawing!
