QUEENS LEADERS RALLY TO SAVE ROCKAWAY FERRY

Katz ferryCouncilman Eric Ulrich, left, Councilman Donovan Richards, Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, Committee to Save the Rockaway Ferry President Danny Ruscillo, and Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer stood along with many others on the steps of City Hall last week to call on Mayor de Blasio to provide permanent ferry service to the Rockaways.

Funding for the current ferry service that connects the peninsula with Manhattan and Brooklyn is scheduled to expire in October. However, Katz and the other elected officials and community leaders said at a press conference last Wednesday that funding for permanent service should be included in the city budget that must be adopted by July 1.
