Queens Borough President Melinda Katz spoke about the need to provide permanent ferry service to the Rockaways during a press conference on the subject held in front of City Hall on Wednesday, June 11. Funding for the current ferry service that connects the Rockaways with Manhattan and Brooklyn is scheduled to expire in October. However, Borough President Katz and the other elected officials and community leaders at the press conference said funding for permanent service should be included in the city budget that must be adopted by July 1. Shown here with the Borough President are (from l. to r.) City Councilmembers Eric Ulrich and Donovan Richards, Danny Ruscillo of the Committee to Save the Rockaway Ferry and Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer.
