Hello Rockaway and Broad Channel residents,
A research group at Columbia University is looking for 5 – 10 people who reside in the Rockaways and who would be interested in working on a research project as interviewers for a survey.
The research project is collecting information about what kind of help people in the Rockaways got after hurricane Sandy, from whom, and how useful were different kinds of help. The purpose is to document lessons that might be used to improve preparedness for and recovery from future storms.
We will make all data and all results publicly available so that the project can serve the Rockaways. We will keep all information confidential - we will not keep records of or report names or addresses of the people with whom we speak.
The work will involve going to homes, explaining the research project, and filling out the survey if the resident agrees to participate. The interviewers will enter answers to survey questions on tablets. Each survey will take about 45 minutes. The work will begin with 3 – 4 days of training.
All surveys will be carried out on weekends. The project should require about 10 – 12 weekends in addition to the days of training. We are looking for people who have B.A. degrees or who are currently in college. The salary will be $16 per hour.
If you are interested in joining the project as an interviewer, please send your resume to Malgosia Madajewicz at mm1174@columbia.edu and please tell us in the email which Rockaway neighborhood you come from. Thanks very much!
