Stay Strong,
Holding Insurance Companies Accountable
I recently sent a letter inviting all the major insurance carriers in New York to discuss their policy improvements and educate residents on coverage. We must ensure these companies are held accountable and have put in place the necessary changes to prepare themselves and our families for future disasters. We can't prevent another storm, but we can help ensure that our community and businesses are protected from any unfair insurance practices.
Safer Streets at P.S. 232
Today, I joined my colleagues, Senator Joseph Addabbo and Councilman Eric Ulrich together with Public School 232 Principal Lisa Josephson, school officials and parents to demand NYC Department of Transportation fix the dangerous intersection and create safer roadways outside P.S. 232. in Lindenwood. We cannot wait for another tragedy to occur for DOT to prioritize our children's safety. I strongly urge the city commit to making these streets safer and take real action to keep our children safe.

Restoring Jamaica Bay Marsh Land
Last week, I teamed up with the American Littoral Society, the Jamaica Bay EcoWatchers and dozens of volunteers to restore the marsh islands, Ruler's Bar and Blackwall in Jamaica Bay. I want to thank Don Riepe of the American Littoral Society and Dan Mundy Jr. and Dan Mundy Sr. of the Jamaica Bay EcoWatchers for their continued advocacy and hard-work to protect Jamaica Bay.
