I received the below email from Tony Georges III, a Broad Channel resident from W12th Road back in the 70's and 80's.

Awesome.
My great aunt Rita Lincoln was known by everyone, even though my grandmother was also a crossing guard there for over a decade.
Thanks for this blog. Makes me feel connected to my roots.
Cheers,

I just found your W12th road blog.
Awesome.
I grew up at 41 W. 12th. (1972-1984) and I think it's great the BC has a blog but even better that it's based on my old block.
Good job, whoever you are.
Good job, whoever you are.
I am the grandson of Helen and Anthony Georges. My father, Tony Jr., also lived there even before I was born, with my grandparents.

Howdy Y'all.
ReplyDeleteI'm still friends with some of the old Channel crew. After Sandy I was biking from Woodhaven to the Channel every other night, bringing friends and family (Helen Hanning-Arena is my cousin) supplies and dropping others off at the Legion (where my Dad and Step mom got married).
I freuqently bike through there to Rockaway over the last few years.
I lived in Woodhaven for 21 years before moving to Binghamton NY about 6 months ago.
I miss the smell of low tide. (sigh)...
So anyway, nice to meet you all or good to "see" you again.
Cheers

Not sure if you will ever see this after all these years. We are related. Your grandfather Anthony was my Mom's (Diana)older brother. Your Dad is my oldest cousin.
