Now the "Parks" Department is threatening to tow our cars?

Sometime earlier this morning, all vehicles parked on the Cross Bay Boulevard (north and south) median (approximately 43 cars) were the recipients of a paper notice on each windshield which states:

WARNING!
You are parked
illegally.
Please remove your
vehicle.  Failure to do
so may result in your
vehicle being ticketed
or towed.

The leaf within a circle logo at the top of the advisory would indicate that it originated with the N.Y.C. Parks Department.

W12thRd Morning Tidal Flooding

A good number of the cars parked on the median this morning are from West 12th Road which has been the subject of extremely high tidal street flooding over the past several days, including this morning as well as an inability to park on West 12th Road because of ice packed snow on the street, especially towards the lower, bay end of the block.

It appears that every car parked on the median within Broad Channel
was the recipient of the above notice.

ACTIONS TAKEN

I attempted to ascertain the source and reason for these advisories as follows:

1.  Called Assemblyman Goldfeder's Office and left a message requesting a call back regarding this issue.

2.  Called Councilman Ulrich's and left a message requesting a call back regarding this issue.

3.  Called the 100th Precinct's Community Affairs Office to determine if they were aware of this situation however the call went unanswered and I left a message requesting a call back.

4.  I contacted Danny Ruscillo, who provided me with the email address of both the area's  Park's Administrator and Manager and I am awaiting a response back from either of them.

5.  Called 311 at  where I was immediately placed on hold and after 15 minutes (at 1:00 pm) I disconnected the call.

As soon as I am in receipt of any definitive facts regarding this situation I will update this posting immediately.

  2. I got one of these. I didn't know that the Crossbay median was a city park. The reason I left my car there was to get out of the way of the city's snow plows, which still hadn't made their way down W. 15th road yet, as of noon on Saturday, 1/4/14.
