Dear Neighbor,

Happy Snow Day! A tremendous thank you to all our city agencies, especially the Department of Sanitation, who have done an excellent job responding to today's storm. As always feel free to reach out to my office with any comments, questions or concerns.

We came a long way in 2013 and although we have made tremendous progress, there is still much work left to be done!

I will continue to fight in 2014 for the resources our communities need to fully recover from Sandy and I will not rest until every family is safe and secure back in their own home!

Have a safe and happy New Year!!!

Stay Strong,

 Welcome PSE&G, Goodbye LIPA!

As you may know, LIPA is no longer our electrical utility provider. As of January 1st, we are now serviced by PSE&G, who have hit the ground running to ensure our families experience measurable change.

LIPA's response in the aftermath of Sandy was nothing short of a nightmare and PSE&G is working around the clock to build a stronger and more resilient energy infrastructure!

If you experience any problems or outages, please call their customer outage number at 1-800-490-0075 or receive updates via twitter by following @PSEGLI.
Protecting Student's Privacy

In an effort to stop the NYS Department of Education from sharing sensitive student data with an outside company, I have joined many of my colleagues in urging Commissioner John King to halt those plans immediatelyThere are currently many flaws in the Department's plan to share personal student information and I strongly believe that it could potentially jeopardize our children's future.
Breezy Point Playground Dedication

It was a privilege to speak with Connecticut State Trooper Lonny Mo at an emotional day in Breezy Point as we cut the ribbon on a new playground built by the Sandy Ground Project. The playground is 1 of 26 being constructed in the Sandy devastated communities in honor of the 26 victims of Sandy Hook. The new playground was dedicated to Mary Sherlach, a school psychologist at Sandy Hook Elementary who gave herself to protect her students!
