The program will take place at the American Legion Post 1401, 209 Cross Bay Boulevard, Broad Channel, starting at 7 p.m.
The NY Rising Community Reconstruction Program, according to a New York State overview “enables communities to identify resilient and innovative reconstruction projects and other needed actions based on community-driven plans that consider current damage, future threats and the community’s economic opportunities.”
“Communities successfully completing a recovery plan will be eligible to receive funds to support the implementation of (those) projects …”
In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the Program has been working with communities like Broad Channel to rebuild and become more resilient through innovative community-driven plans.
Broad Channel is currently in the process of completing a recovery plan in order to be eligible to receive funds to put the projects and activities identified in the plan into action.
The Broad Channel Planning Committee and the NY Rising Community Reconstruction Program are inviting Channel residents and the general public to view the projects which will create a stronger, more resilient Broad Channel.
The meeting will start with a short presentation and then open up for discussion.
