Weekend Storm [Advisory 2]

Current models are forecasting this weekend's storm to impact our coastal area here in Broad Channel late Saturday when our temperature will be near freezing with snowfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches prior to changing over to a wintry mix and then all rain on Sunday when the temperature rises well above freezing.

What to Expect:

Saturday:  Temperature 26 F with periods of snow and NE winds at 10 - 20 mph.  As much as 3 inches of snow possible.

Saturday Night:  Temperature 31 F with periods of snow and ENE winds at 15 - 25 mph.  An additional one inch of snow possible.

Sunday Morning:  Temperature 38 F with periods of snow changing over to all rain and NNE winds at 14 mph.

Although snowfall amounts should not be significant, the storm will make roads and sidewalks slippery, raising the risk of slip and fall as well as vehicular accidents.

The storm will also likely cause many flight delays and cancellations.

Power outages should not pose a problem as Saturday winds will be NE at 10 - 20 mph increasing to 15 - 25 Saturday night.

The NE winds should not cause any problems with street tidal flooding as we are between the full and new moon with...

Saturday's 6:17 pm high tide height of 4.7 feet, and,

Sunday's 6:40 am high tide at 5.7 feet.

Any significant changes to this forecast will be updated here.
