More on Biggert-Waters.....

From: Beachcomber Column

Flood insurance update: According to Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, the most active legislator fighting Biggert-Waters, a vote to delay the law will be up for a vote in the U.S. Senate in early January. According to Landrieu, “The bill gives FEMA time to study the insurance rates and their impact on local areas before making a final decision. The bill also requires FEMA to certify that they have accurate flood maps, eliminate penalties for communities that are providing their own flood insurance apart from the federal government and sets money aside for a Flood Insurance Advocate position within FEMA to assist homeowners.” The Wave will follow this vote.
Lloyds of London is starting to offer flood insurance in a number of states. Their public relations people say it will be less onerous and expensive than the NFIP. It’s not available yet in New York but we’re hoping this is a trend.

Standing In The Way

d
Dear Editor:
Senator Mike Crapo of Idaho and Senator Pat Roberts of Kansas are standing in the way of a solution for skyrocketing flood insurance rates. They are blocking the bill from going to the Senate floor to be voted on!
Call, email, tweet or Facebook them and tell them "to let us simply vote on the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act." All 50 States have flood zones! Call Mike Crapo at 202- 224-6142 and call Pat Roberts at 202- 224-4774.
Spread the word and have everyone communicate our protest with these two dolts who are standing in the way of amending the Biggert-Waters act.
