One Year After Sandy

As a community and family, no matter how dark the night or difficult the day, we rise and carry on together toward recovery.
There are many still struggling, but I will continue to work until every family is safe and secure back in their own home!

  Stay Strong,

Demand Funding to Fully Restore Our Bay Wall
The New York City Economic Development Corporation has been working to repair the bay wall between the Cross BayBridge and Beach 142nd Street and they expect all work to be completed within 12-16 months. However, the federally-owned sections between Beach 143rd street and the Marine Parkway Bridge remain on the verge of collapse. In an effort to get the work done immediately, Senator Schumer and I sent a letter demanding that the U.S. Dept. of Interior (DOI) perform the proper maintenance and funding for this project. The bay wall has been further compromised by Sandy and our community can not wait any longer!
More Cops to Protect Our Streets
I am proud to announce the 106th Precinct will immediately receive 16 additional officers to patrol our streets. After years of asking for more resources, our voices have finally been heard. I commend Commissioner Ray Kelly for providing the 106th Precinct with the necessary tools they need to keep our streets safe.

You can read more on our community's victory in the Daily New's article here.
Summer Reading Challenge A Success!
My first summer reading certificate ceremony was at Sandy ravaged P.S. 47 in Broad Channel. Sandy could not bring down our families and even after everything we have been through a record number of students completed the challenge!

INSURANCE HELP IS NEEDED. HELP WITH ROGUE CONTRACTORS ON BEHALF OF SANDY SURVIVORS IS NEEDED. BROKEN PROMISES NEED TO BE UNBROKEN.
