Also, community grants up to $3,000 are now available to resident-led groups through the Citizens Committee for New York City grant program. You can read more about the grant program in this week's Wave here or visit citizensnyc.org

  Stay Strong,

 Crackdown on Fraudulent Sandy-Contractors
While thousands are still struggling to finish repairs from  Sandy damage, many have fallen prey to contractors that have promised to rebuild their homes, but have either left before completing the job or worse- disappeared with the victim's money without performing any of the necessary repairs.
I have asked Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to work with the appropriate city and state agencies to immediately investigate and hold all contractor's accountable for their work in our Sandy-damaged communities. Sandy was an unfortunate disaster, but we need to stay vigilant now more than ever to ensure we make a full recovery.
Speed Up Bayswater Project
Last week, I sent a letter to Commissioner David J. Burney of the NYC Department of Design And Construction (DDC) urging him to immediately expedite the Bay 32nd Street Storm Sewer Project that will put in place critical storm protection for the residents of Bayswater. The project, once completed, willprevent severe flooding, not just during Sandy-sized Hurricanes, but for normal everyday storms that hurt our families in Bayswater.
Rockaway Brewing Company!
I joined Ethan Long, co-owner and brew master on a tour of the Rockaway Brewing Company. Although it started in Ethan's backyard in Far Rockaway less than three years ago, the Rockaway Brewing Company has grown to serve thousands of residents throughout Brooklyn and Queens.
