project to rebuild a storm-damaged home.

She feels their pain.
A fleece-clad Chelsea Clinton, who has been taking more of a public role lately, traveled to the Rockaways on Saturday and met with Hurricane Sandy victims.
Clinton led hundreds of volunteers with the Clinton Foundation in a cleanup mission along Rockaway Beach. She also broke ground on a Sandy damaged home that will be rebuilt to better withstand future storms, thanks to a resiliency competition from the Clinton Global Initiative.
"We are so excited to be doing this," Clinton said in front of the single-family home, which will be complete in July. The winning design for the home — which was required to be both affordable and storm-resistant — could be used on other homes damaged by Sandy.
The notoriously press-shy Clinton didn't take questions from reporters, but she appeared at ease in front of the cameras, and posed for pics with many of the locals who'd stopped by to see her.
"It was exciting that someone in our area, our little forgotten area, that we have someone so important come," said Hazeron Mohammed, a 30-year Rockaway resident whose house flooded during Sandy.
"I'd vote for her and her mother."
Clinton isn't running for office — at least not yet.
After years of staying behind the scenes, Clinton has slowly stepped out from behind her parents’ long shadow.
In April, the Clinton Foundation, set up after the 42nd president left office, formally changed its name to the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation. The change was to reflect Hillary and Chelsea's expanded roles in the group.
She also was involved in several CGI health programs this year.
The Rockaways still need help.
