Accepting a $10,000 donation from the Million Dollar Round Table foundation in front of the Broad Channel Volunteer firehouse are Chief Dan McIntyre, Paul Avenius of MDRT, Ed Wilmarth, Chief Engineer and Chief Knee D/Chief.The Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department received a $10,000 check from the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) on Friday, August 23rd. The MDRT foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Million Dollar Round Table, The Premier Association of Financial Professionals, an international association of nearly 38,000 life insurance and financial services professionals throughout the world. They have dedicated more than $200,000 toward Sandy relief efforts. MDRT was founded in 1927. BCVFD applied for this competitive grant in June and was successful in securing the $10,000 donation, which will be dedicated toward reconstruction funding (as BCVFD’s required FEMA matching funding) to recondition 15 Noel Road. The firehouse is still recovering from the storm. As Chief Dan McIntyre says, “Like many of our neighbors all we have seen from FEMA is paperwork. This check will help us meet the matching share to secure the release of approximately $100,000 in FEMA funding.” The BCVFD was founded in 1905. The current firehouse on Noel Road was first opened in the summer of 1908.
