South Queens Coastal and Bay Communities to Participate in National STOP FEMA NOW Saturday, September 28th
Broad Channel, Queens, N.Y. - Residents from multiple south Queens coastal and bay communities whose homes were devastated by Super Storm Sandy in October of last year who are now facing the possibility of losing their homes again to the unprecedented insurance rate increases mandated by the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012. Senator Mary Landrieu (La.) stated at a recent Congressional hearing that the Biggert-Waters Act was a piece of legislation that was "premature and not well thought out..Forget about fixing blame, let's fix this...we made a mistake. Residents of the following Queens communities will participate in the nation-wide Stop FEMA Now rally this Saturday (September 28th) at 12 Noon at the Broad Channel American Legion Hall located at 209 Cross Bay Boulevard, Broad Channel, N.Y. in an effort to impress upon Congress the need to delay the implementation of this legislation until our legislators have the opportunity to address the extraordinarily high and fiscally unmanageable rate increases it mandates.
