Over the past several days several computer forecast models showed a low developing in the Atlantic, coming up the coast and then turning westward toward the mainland.
Thankfully, conditions have changed and the models are now painting a very different for this storm as shown in the above graphic. The computers are now showing a pretty strong storm developing largely off shore over the weekend and moving north-east away from our coast..
An intense area of low pressure will be driving winds north and north east back into our coast generating some large waves, possible coastal flooding and a rip current threat. The intensity of these effects will depend the proximity of the storms center to or coast as approaches and passes.
In any event, right now, unless you plan to out on the water boating, it does not appear to be a weather event that we have to be too concerned with as coastal impacts from this system will not be overly significant and we will be well between the full and new moon high tides when the system passes us.
Keep in mind though that the exact track of this system will not become clear until the low pressure system actually moves east over Florida and Georgia into the still warm waters of the Atlantic and the storm actually forms. We will post an update on this pending weather system later tonight.
