Tropical Storm Andrea - Advisory #1

Tropical Storm Andrea has formed in the Gulf of Mexico and present forecast models indicate she will head northeast crossing Florida and then up along the coast.

A water rise causing significant coastal flooding is not expected in our area here in Broad Channel, due to the increasing forward speed and relatively weak nature of the tropical part of the system.

However, tides will be higher than average for the month with the new moon Saturday. Brief, minor flooding at time of high tides is possible later Friday into Saturday morning. Water levels can be as high as 2 feet above published levels.

At this time it appears that Andrea's impact on our area will be late Friday afternoon and evening consisting of  heavy rain, brief gusty winds and possible minor tidal flooding at times of high tide Friday night.

Updates to follow....
