Water Resources Development Act 2013

The Senate on Wednesday put aside its partisan differences to extend the federal government’s main water resources bill, which promotes investment in port improvements, flood protection, dam and levee projects and environmental restoration.
The measure passed 84-14.
The last water resources bill to become law was in 2007 over the veto of President George W. Bush.
That legislation was laden with hundreds of earmarks or special projects sought by individual lawmakers, but this bill has no earmarks. Still, critics questioned approving any new water projects when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers already is saddled with $60 billion in projects it hasn’t yet completed.
