Shortly after 3:00 pm this afternoon the electric service at my residence starting fluctuating and at 3:58 pm this afternoon all power was lost on West 12th Road.
I checked with JFK and although a cold front was pushing through our area at the time with winds gusting to 30 mph, wind speeds were not such as to cause line problems.
When I called ConEd to report the outage the answering system advised it was "part of a more widespread problem" and they were working on it.
Power was ultimately restored at 4:11 pm.
Total outage time: 13 minutes.
Update @ 4:43pm: ConEd called and advised that repairs to the problem are ongoing and all power should be restored by 1:00 Wednesday morning 3/13/2013.
Update @ 5:05 pm: Apparently the problem is with a ConEd pole on W9th Road....one of our neighbors sent me the following picture...
