Private Contractors Removing Debris on W12th Road

A Private Contractor (Landscaping Co) removing debris from the front  of 55W12th Rd on Monday, 3/11/2012
Let me begin by saying that this posting in no way is meant to malign the Department of Sanitation and their  extraordinary actions in responding to the incredible amount of debris generated by Super Storm Sandy.  As far as I am concerned, these men and women now, and forever, will "walk on water!"

That being said. it is now some 134 days post "Sandy" and, over the past several weeks, refuse collection on West 12th Road, especially the bay end of the block, was sporadic at best.

Several calls were made to 311 gently reminding them that the deadline for the Sanitation Department's Storm Bulk Debris Removal was fast approaching (March 18th) and there still existed a substantial amount of debris on the block requesting that some assistance be provided.

Earlier today there were several private contractors on W12th Road removing bulk and other debris piled in the street in front of homes starting at the bay end of the block.

Thank you...Thank you...Thank you!
