Tucked away on the west side of the small town of Broad Channel in the middle of Jamiaca Bay is a narrow, dead end, street that goes by the name of West 12th Road. Those of us who live there know that the nice part about living in a small town is that when you are not quite sure what is going on, someone else always does!
[Peter J. Mahon West 12th Road, Broad Channel]
Born and raised in Broad Channel, left 32 years ago and now living in California. Been watching the storm on the national news with some interest but don't see much on TV or the web. So I was glad to discover this blog and really appreciated your posts leading up to the arrival of Sandy. But you haven't posted for a while now, so I am hoping you are just too busy and otherwise okay. Wishing my best to everyone.
I live on 12th road about 6 houses up from where this photo was taken. Most of Broad Channel took on water tonight. My house, a single story dwelling, took on roughly 4-6 feet of water inside even though my house is 4.5 feet off
Trying to find any information on my aunt and uncle, Mr and Mrs G Fraher on west 17th. We haven't heard anything since Tuesday afternoon. Please email with any info, thanks and stay strong.
