Tucked away on the west side of the small town of Broad Channel in the middle of Jamiaca Bay is a narrow, dead end, street that goes by the name of West 12th Road. Those of us who live there know that the nice part about living in a small town is that when you are not quite sure what is going on, someone else always does! [Peter J. Weekend Storm Update
As of right now, the best chance of significant snow for this pending weekend storm appears to target New England and possibly Upstate New York Friday and Saturday but the storm's main kick may result from low pressure reforming and intensifying offshore Friday into the weekend.
Sound familiar? As always, the path of the intensifying low is key. The Christmas weekend blizzard was initially thought to track well out to sea but instead it intensified and tracked closer to the coast and we got clobbered!
Cold air will be locked in place, so a path closer to the coast would bring heavier snow. Also, if the storm intensifies quicker, when it is farther south, it may have a more significant impacts outside of New England for us here in New York City.
