N.Y. State Sea Level Rise Task Force Report

Tidal Flooding W12th Road - August 2010
In 2007, the New York State Legislature created the Sea Level Rise Task Force and charged it with preparing a report that addresses issues related to projected sea level rise, including recommendations for an action plan to protect coastal communities and natural resources from such rising sea levels. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation leads the Task Force, which has a diverse membership that includes representatives of state and local government agencies, non‐governmental organizations and affected communities. The legislature directed the Task Force to “evaluate ways of protecting New York’s remaining coastal ecosystems and natural habitats, and increasing coastal community resilience in the face of sea level rise, applying the best available science as to sea level rise and its anticipated impacts.”

The New York State Sea Level Rise Task Force issued its final report to the State Legislature
on December 31, 2010.
