Winter Solstice and Total Lunar Eclipse - All at Once!

This year's winter solstice, an event that will occur next Tuesday, December 21st, will coincide with a full lunar eclipse.

This dual event that hasn't been seen since 1554, some 456 years ago when Lady Jane Grey was beheaded for treason, Princess Elizabeth was imprisoned in the Tower of London, and Mary of Guise — the mother of Mary, Queen of Scots — became regent of Scotland.

The eclipse will start just after midnight on Tuesday morning, with the main event starting at 1:33 am, total eclipe taking place at 2:41 am and ending at 5:01 am.

As long as the sky is clear, we here in Broad Channel will have a perfect view of this once in a many lifetimes event!
